step Converting dates between time zones (2) Converting

In my previous post titled Converting dates between time zones
  • put an example of how to convert a date / time of a local time zone to a different. But working with the same project found that it should make a date in the UTC time zone to local, and then gave me my technical leader a simple solution changing one line of code example in the previous post, just to do what I needed at that time:
  • In the task you were doing was reading a text file with the data "date" as a series of numbers: "20090921" "1230", which represents the September 21, 2009 at 12:30, so I had to use the date format yyyyMMddkkmm. " This time he received the file represents a date / time in GMT time
    . And this time the area was to go to my local time is CST or UTC-6 (Central Time) . Public void
    cambiarZonaHoraria (String date, String pattern, String tz) { SimpleDateFormat format = new SimpleDateFormat (pattern);
    format.setTimeZone (TimeZone.getTimeZone (tz)); try {System.out.println (format.parse (date));
    } catch (ParseException pe) {pe
    . printStackTrace ();
    }} first creates a new instance of SimpleDateFormat with the parameter "pattern" that tells the body that the text is going to shipping is in this format, in my case "yyyyMMddkkmm."
    Then, most important of what we try do, we will assign our object the TimeZone
    format in which you want to convert the time, in my case was GMT. then simply use the method parse (String)
    to convert our text to a Date in the local timezone, in my case CST, so the end result of this example is that the text "200909211230" in format yyyyMMddkkmm "which represents" 2oo9/09/21
    12:30
     "GMT becomes" 2009/09/21 6:30

    "in CST and which is 6 hours behind the benchmark of
    Time UTC Coordinated Universal or
    .

    only exceptions must remember catching a throw or make them.

    dates between time zones

    In a project I'm involved I had to convert some dates in the time zone

    UTC (GMT) time zone
    • CST (Central Time) which is used by most states in Mexico . As the project is entirely based on Java technology, I found the task of finding ways to do this with libraries for Java.
    • found that there are some bookstores, such as Quartz, implement a class for time zone conversion. But in my case, need not rely so heavily on third-party libraries or outside the Java API.
    • found that with TimeZone and DateFormat classes I can do the conversion using the following sentences. public void cambiarZonaHoraria (Date date, String to) {DateFormat dateFormat = new SimpleDateFormat ();
    • TimeZone.getTimeZone TimeZone tz = (to) dateFormat
    . SetTimeZone (tz);
    System.out. println (dateFormat.format (date));} What this does is basically

    instantiate SimpleDateFormat with the local date format create a TimeZone instance with the short name time zone specified by the parameter "to"

    is assigned the new time zone object dateFormat using the method format () dateFormat object is the conversion of our date to a string representing the new date in the time zone you've created, and this date is printed on the screen.
     In the same way you can make conversions between different zones and time zones.

    Now, note that to create a TimeZone using the short name for the zone. This left a list

    zones with their names and IDs that I got running this little program I found in Java Developers Almanac

    :

    • import java.util.Date; Import
    • java.util.TimeZone;
    • public class
    • ListadoZonasHorarias {public static void main (String [] args) {
    • Date date = new Date ();
    • / / Get the ID of all time zones
    String [ ] zoneIds = TimeZone.getAvailableIDs (); System.out.println ("ID short and long name of zone String shortName = tz.getDisplayName (tz.inDaylightTime (date), TimeZone.SHORT)
    String longname = tz.getDisplayName (tz.inDaylightTime (date), TimeZone.LONG) System . out.print (shortName + "\\ t \\ t Hope you can serve like me. Greetings.

    The green side of the city

    Last Saturday we made a cultural tour group, as the others who have posted here .
    The idea was to see the green face of the city by a short circuit but concatenating the highest number of parks, fountains and wooded ridge in the Condesa and Roma neighborhoods.

    For this we gather at the corner of Amsterdam and Sonora, one block from Insurgentes (important detail: Saturdays from 11 to 4 you can hop on the bike to the Metro bus, that I discovered that day.) For starters we

    Amsterdam street on the left coming from Insurgentes on Sonora. Amsterdam is a tree lined street with a median that follows the shape of the old race track that existed and so there is a street elliptical. Just three blocks ahead are the first point: Iztacihuatl Square, which was recently fixed and is tiny but very nice. We move on and find another source at a roundabout, this is the place Citlaltepetl second goal of our journey. From there take the street toward the park Citlaltepetl with Mexico, then come to this park, formerly called San Martín Park. There, in the first section we saw a clock surrounded by water jets and later along the Avenida Mexico come to the Fountain of women of pitchers, a source Art Deco style Lindbergh framed by the forum in the same style.

    To follow in the search for fountains and parks, take Av Sonora Mexico and cross the street until reaching the square Popocatepetl. There is also a source Art Deco style very interesting. Surrounding the plaza

    continue down the street and we return to Amsterdam Cacahuamilpa the left and continue until you find the street of Michoacan, where we turned right. Continuing along this street, cross Nuevo Leon and continued until we found the diagonal street Vicente Suarez on the right, which allowed us to go out Av Mazatlan, which is the first to encounter large and wooded ridge. Follow that road to the right until it bends and changes its name to Durango (also median). Later, the avenue ends in Madrid plaza where the famous Cibeles fountain, bronze excellent reproduction of the source of the same name that exists in Madrid.

    After crossing the square in the middle (the privilege of riding a bike) and continue along Durango Street to find Morelia you take a left (NOTE: take this street to the contrary, if decide to do the same, beware.) Following this street ends at the Plaza Morelia. Morelia Square is almost circular (like a drop) surround so after we returned to Morelia (now it in the correct direction) and just half a block down on left Romita take the alley to find the famous piazza and church of the Romita, a church very, very old (XVI century) that retains a small town. Morelia back to the street and continue until you find a park or garden called Alexander Pushkin and later, Alvaro Obregon Avenue, we take the right.

    Álvaro Obregón avenue is a wide ridge that has trees, fountains and sculptures from the early twentieth century. Upon reaching the corner of Orizaba (hint: where is Casa Lamm) we turned to hand Orizaba left and continue on to Plaza Luis Cabrera. We surrounded the square and return to the same street to Av Alvaro Obregon Orizaba, to continue in the same direction we were before.
    At the intersection of Alvaro Obregon and Avenida Insurgentes, there is a small triangular park named Juan Rulfo. Insurgentes Crossing to see the park against Spain, but to get there, continue down the street two blocks Valladolid and then we left on Avenida Oaxaca park which leads directly to Spain with many trees and some cypresses (Mexican tree who come to live for thousands of years) where our tour officially ended.

    In short, the day we visited and met 12 parks or plazas and 4 wide wooded ridges that can be considered as linear parks and countless other sources.

    If at the end of this trip do not think you've seen enough trees, you can take the Avenida Veracruz, which is one of the streets surrounding the Park Spain and continue until you reach Chapultepec six blocks away. We ended our tour with an ice cream at Roxy.

    Here is the map of this route!

    Tips for cycling to work ...

    According to origin-destination survey about 60% of trips are for work and for people living in the Federal District distances are from 8 to 10km, well riding in 30 min. the same time the health department recommended for daily exercise, then why do not you bike to work?

    Here I list some recommendations for animes you save time, money and only spend that fat is more:

    - Plan your trip. is important that traces a route to go from home to work and back, avoid high traffic streets and side streets choose to make your trip more enjoyable, remember that the bike can cruise in parks, bridges and pedestrian streets. Go your route on a Sunday you will I estimate time it takes to not get caught in the rush.

    - Load things. If you need to carry things like books, equipment for your job, etc., There are several options for you: you can equip your bike with a rack (rear rack) or a basket in front for the rack you could use bags that are hung on the grid allows you to store more things and some of these bags can disassemble them and use them as your bag, you can also opt for a backpack or purse cross, which you should consider for this is the volume and weight of your load.

    - formal wear for the office. get used should be gradual, the first days You can choose to wear comfortable clothing and have your change in the office or download it to the basket or bag you use, if you're worried about is the sweat and get messy for the helmet you can load a brush and some baby wipes to freshen up on arrival at your office. Do not be discouraged at first cut down on sweating more, but as time goes on your body will get used to decrease the effort and sweating, remember to load a lotion to prevent odors.

    - Park your bike. best thing is to ask at your place of work to get the bike and leave it some space out of the way, remember to use a thick chain that is not easy to cut, the subject seeks to tie box and front wheel, the length of the string to do this is at least 1.50mts to load it can become entangled in the seat tube or box, just try not to hurt the cables and brake changes. If you could not get her and have to leave it in the street, looking to make friends with a newspaper vendor or owner of a small store so they throw him a "darling" to your bike.

    - For your protection. Wearing a helmet, lights, lenses, reflective clothing, gloves, etc., Are to improve your safety when traveling by bike, but more important is that you stay attentive to what happens around you, you respect the rules of transit, this is to avoid opposite directions and pass the high without first make sure it's safe to cross, like when you're a pedestrian or car driver is to prevent what others can do and anticipate your movements, it is to have good communication with other actors the track. If all the accessories you think you can look unattractive that they are personalizing, lenses to match your clothes, a helmet that matches your bike, this is as funny as you want.

    These are just some tips, in practice you will discover solutions, does not forget to share your experience and expand this list of tips that every time there is "MORE WOMEN ON BIKES and Cleto IN THE CITY! "

    The green side of town ... the chamacletas go for a walk!

    ready is the next trip of the chamacletas, and we felt somewhat numb and eager to meet so many enthusiastic girls for our next appearance in TV Azteca and Reactor 105.7 FM have been waiting for an original bike ride.

    This time we're going to visit some parks and squares of the Roma and Condesa air breathing quiet and green, that this autumn will live secure and yellow tones. The event is this Saturday, November 7 at 12:00 pm at the corner of Amsterdam and Sonora, a block Insurgentes Metrobus Sonora, do not need more than your bike, want to ride, have fun and little money for a rich ice cream or coffee at the end of the route.

    If you bicycle in the Park Mexico compared to the power women of the pitchers you can get a Best people in bike, you only need your IFE.

    Cycling Tour

    One of the most attractive aspects of urban cycling is that it gives an incredible view of the city, allows you always look at things in a new way, kind, amazing.
    why I liked this text Jesus Silva-Herzog Márquez on David Byrne's book, Bicycle Diaries .

    One thing Byrne says maybe, maybe not, I do not know, is that the bike you will discover the smells of the city (generally more pleasant than one might imagine at first instance) and find streets and hours unusual odors (eucalyptus, flowers, or pan).
    not stop reading the text and if you like what we discuss here.

    2nd. Urban Cycling Congress in Guadalajara

    few days ago I had the opportunity to attend the 2nd. Urban Cycling Congress in Guadalajara, where they gladly met many urban cyclists, those "weirdos" as Martxelo say that every time we invaded most corners of this country, co-Ensenada, Tijuana, Oaxaca, Querétaro Aguascalientes, Morelia, Ciudad Guzman, Monterrey, Puebla, Culiacan and of course the City (I hope not forget any).

    BiciEllas the Chamacletas urban were invited to participate at the table "Girls Bike" where we share space with Heleana Zambonino of All in Bike, Ecuador, Emily Ramsey of Bicicocina in Los Angeles, Patricia Karenina Bike GDL, this table was to share space different strategies that each group in the city has continued to promote urban cycling among women, because all we agreed, she looks and feels different, he said it Karenina in the story that read: men are like Mantis, warriors, Dragonflies are more like women, mediators, break stigmas and discrimination or the imposition of a public image were other points that we must fight, but there were stories that were inspiring, as the students of Heleana, women over 60 years to finally learn to ride a bike and discover with each pedaling the bike is literally revolutionize your life the way they are revolutionizing wheels to move forward. The Sunday before the closing Heleana continued her work with women in Guadalajara now that fans came with the dream of learning to ride.

    Other papers that caught my attention was that of Chris Carlsson on Critical Mass in San Francisco, perhaps I was under the sentence that invites us not to leave "exercise our right to public space, "explaining that only needs to get out on the bike and take to the streets as you transport it, the bike shop on the Internet networks, explained the power they have all these spaces such as blogs, hi5, facebook, forums, etc., to spread an idea and call for participation, we know, it is this blog has allowed us to disseminate and work on our goal: More women in bike and Cletus in the city.

    Finally one of the best experiences that I stay in this meeting was the Shot-Critical Mass to mark the World No Car Day, I could not figure many were, but surely more than 300 (people of GDL said it had been a weak night), the enthusiasm of the girls from Queretaro to the tune of famous songs such as Gloria Trevi loose hair, composed a hymn enthusiast bike rack:

    And I am going and going and going ... I'll ride you bike
    and will not go down the sidewalk
    me look bad but people
    who goes by car is insane

    Aguascalientes BiciCalidos was another enthusiastic group shouting catchy slogans that you should cry, happiness flowed from our skin, it feels so nice that you can only understand when you bike with so many others who like you believe that giving strong pedals will make a big change.

    And so ended this brief but intense encounter where the bicycle was the factor that unites us.

    Walker Forehand
    The workshop hosted the girls learn to ride a bike.

    Mon, 21/09/2009 - 5:56
    About two dozen cyclists figures emulated the work of Alejandro Colunga in the Milky RecreActiva.

    Guadalajara .- Bicycling is an activity exclusively of men. A woman can take your bike and ride without losing their femininity, or security. But this must be learned and the best way is between girls, said Helena Zamborino, Ciclópolis Foundation of Ecuador.

    This Sunday, as part of the Milky RecreActiva and as part of the activities of the Second National Urban Cycling Congress, which concluded yesterday, the instructor gave the workshop the girls learn to ride a bike, which showed some techniques and gave some tips about a dozen interested women.

    "It is extremely different to go from woman to woman, how we tell things the way we live experiences [...] Among women can build this change and we can teach women how to ride a bicycle, "he said. But not only is riding a bike and now. For Helena, who is dedicated to teaching women from fourteen to 62 years, there's more: "Not only do women ride bicycles, but we who are women to understand their body. Conceive the femininity of the woman from head to toe through the bike. "

    The venue of the workshop was Escorza Walker. Bicycles and chairs were strewn across the floor tools. The first thing to do before getting on a bike, the instructor said, is review: brakes, chain, tires, everything is in order. Then learn to fall: "Open your legs, throwing the bike and lift our arms." Leonor Vieira

    learned from scratch, from how to get on and off: "I have some time [I want to learn.] I see people what to like walking in the Way RecreActiva me and I like. And I want to learn, but I'm afraid, I'm falling nerve. " Like her, Maria Cristina Davalos, 53, was encouraged to learn: "I am very interested to know cycling. I wish [...] Almost no truck use, often road two hours to reach places. "

    Women received tips and practiced. In the end, were ready to ride. Natalia Barragán

    If we have not posted is because the next Congress of Urban Cycling we are very entertaining, but here's a good news: There is already a mega bike parking in Cuautitlan, on the commuter rail station. The news you see here , check the photo, the photo reminds me of a parking lot in Germany, I saw recently.

    And curiously, the news came straight to my email because, long ago, I do not know if you remember (see here), I proposed that flood the mail train station to allow us to train up the bike (which still happens).

    urban cyclists know how important it is to have somewhere to let the bike or bike to combine with any other carrier, so I think that is an achievement the first large parking lot. Is a clear example that cyclists first arrived and then the authorities found it necessary to provide the service, therefore, how to get better infrastructure for bikes is ... rolling.

    I leave here an article in English, very interesting, also check the links.

    How To Unblock Websense In School

    An internal DURING error occurred: "JSP Content Validator".

    In the office where I work we use MyEclipse as IDE and constantly when editing XML files or JSP in some projects, using MyEclipse 6.0.1 GA, has typically launches a pop every time we try to keep this type of files with the following errors:

    DURING An internal error occurred: "JSP Content Validator".

    And as I ran out of patience, I was investigating and apparently many people have the same problem, but found a quick fix but nothing attractive, which is to disable the validation of JSP and JSF.

    To do this we must open the preferences window is

    Is PHP or Java?

    Sometimes some friends ask me what programming language should learn, and I say - the one you want. But honestly is a bit more complicated, because they should first ask "Well, what do you want? - But maybe the question should be redefined and now

    explain why ... Because I remember that we left the class task of comparing the technologies PHP, Java and. NET. But I think both technologies, PHP and Java, are not comparable, and not to say that PHP does not come on the heels of Java, do not misunderstand me.

    should keep in mind what is PHP. PHP is a Web programming technology, for it was created. But Java is a technology platform with which they can make web applications, desktop, mobile, and so on. Perhaps the comparison should be done is "What do I need for what I do, PHP or JSP / Servlets?." Because JSP and Servlets are a set of Java APIs that allow you to program Web applications. In addition to these, Java has dozens of other definitions that can be made many things.

    So if you ask me - What programming language should learn? - I might ask - What you need to do - it is with JSP and Servlets can do what you do with PHP and more.

    Now, do not want to fall in that you can program in Java just as you would with PHP, because we must also recognize that there is a learning curve higher in Java than in PHP language. Not to mention that when one wants to make things more complex and robust must learn to use a framework to accomplish their work.

    Outside of that, so I always recommend is learning Java, since programmers Java has a great demand in Mexico and many countries and are very well paid. There are a lot of free documentation and professionals willing to help.

    So join us and follow us constantly to be learning Java. Soon we will start with the videos ...

    How I can learn Java? Software Guru

    The http://www.swcoders.com blog a while ago I published a post where I explain five tips on how to learn to program in Java, and any programming language works alike. As this is a copy & paste the same:

    On several occasions my friends have asked me about how they could start learning to program in Java. For what I have always answered is " reading and doing." When I learned to program in Java was because some friends told me the same thing, but where does it read?, What these friends said, and I answer now to make me the question is that "Google has is that learning to program in any language and to be fond of programming, the person must be an outstanding researcher. And if you've got here is because you are looking to learn, and we are here to facilitate your learning.

    Reading. There are many tutorials scattered all over the Web, it's just a matter of knowing look. Well if you put "Java tutorial OR manual" in any search engine you'll get hundreds of tutorials of Java. Only thing that you're a weekend with coffee and fried in front of the computer. If you are more traditional, there are hundreds of books for very cheap mercadolibre.com, although there are also electronically. A place that is always going to help you www.g2p.org hacks google to search the index server searching for what you want.

    Using
    . Many tutorials are basic practical examples with which you can start playing. In these tutorials will explain how to configure your Windows or Linux environment to program in Java.

    not afraid to English. A fear factor that I see often in a few friends who want to learn to program is that many books and tutorials to get are in English. But to be fond of computing, you learn not to fear the language, and I do not mean you are multilingual, but at least you will be learning to read English while learning to program. But fear not, there are now lots of information and tutorials in English are very professional and easy with which you can learn. Forums

    . You can also subscribe to forums where you can ask questions about your questions and tell you more of a Java developer will be willing and have the answer you want. Some are: FIT Forums
    , javahispano.org
    ,
    programacion.com
    ,
    programacionweb.net . Podcasts

    . Podcasts are a means by which you can stay updated on the latest news and new tools on Java. This will help you open your mind to many things that exist in the Java world you may not know. The podcast I hear most frequently is that of
    javahispano.org

    , and the

    javaposse.com in English.

    The original note this here.

    I invite you to take a tour by
